Dealing with the news media

On behalf of our clients, we deal regularly with the local, regional, national and specialist news media. This entails:

  • writing and issuing news releases;

  • dealing with inquiries from the media;

  • preparing in-depth feature articles on specialist topics;

  • advising clients on how to handle media situations;

A 'round the clock' service 365 days of the year

As we operate a 24-hour a day, 7-day a week service, we are constantly available both to respond to our clients’ requests for material to be issued to the media at very short notice, and to receive and deal with incoming inquiries from the media.

Some of our clients want to focus their media activity in a specific geographical area - for example, the West Midlands or the North West of England. Other clients have a national focus, requiring information to be sent to national newspapers and broadcasting stations. Some wish to target a particular section of the trade or specialist media, such as publications covering health issues.

Regularly updated, computerised database

We have fully computerised e-mail and fax-based media distribution lists which enable us, at the touch of a button, to issue news releases to any configuration of media in any part of or all of the country. This database is regularly updated to ensure accuracy of distribution.

Adapting stories for different media

We are also well accustomed to producing different versions of news releases for different target media. This approach recognises the different priorities and news values adopted by, for example, specialist national publications as opposed to local weekly or daily newspapers.

On this and the following pages are just a few examples of media coverage resulting directly from news releases we have issued on behalf of different clients. What we can’t illustrate here so easily, of course, is the amount of television or radio coverage obtained including, for example, interviews on BBC Radio 4’s flagship PM programme or major features on Central TV News.
