Paul Castle, Managing Director and Senior Consultant

A graduate of Pembroke College, Oxford with a 1st class honours degree in Modern History, Paul began his communications career in journalism. Before establishing Castle Communications in 1985, he held posts as:

  • a reporter and feature-writer for major regional morning and evening newspapers;

Paul Castle
  • presenter of a 'live' current affairs programme on commercial radio;

  • writer in the corporate public relations and advertising department
    of a multi-national company;

  • head of public relations for a metropolitan district council;

  • head of public relations for a regional health authority;

  • head of communications and planning for a regional health authority.

The breadth and depth of Paul’s experience in public relations has equipped him to be able to take on more or less any challenge a client could throw at him. For example, he has handled scenarios as diverse as the world’s last outbreak of smallpox; the UK’s first experiment in the use of 'smart cards'; major industrial relations disputes; and public consultation on facilities for mentally ill offenders.

Paul is equally at home in dealing with the intense pressures of a contentious front page story in the national press, or planning a long-term awareness-raising campaign, or writing and designing an annual report for key stakeholders or a newsletter for staff.

He is very much 'hands on' in his approach. So he does not turn up at presentations to new clients and then disappear once the contract has been awarded. If it is professional expertise and experience accumulated over a far-reaching career that you are paying for, that is exactly what you will get.
