If you have something to say, say it clearly or don’t say it at all. In a world where people are increasingly bombarded with messages trying to persuade them to buy the latest gadget, to use a brand new type of service or to support a particular cause, the clarity of the message is vital.

Yet how often how you picked up a leaflet, watched a TV commercial or read a report and wondered to yourself: “What on earth was that all about?” All too often, the message can get lost in a maze of clumsy, unintelligible language. Or caught in the web of a complex design or an obtuse concept that leaves you remembering the advertisement but not what it was trying to tell you.
